The stunning backdrop of northern Idaho offers a gorgeous setting for a great round of golf – of any variety! Local courses for both golfers and disc golfers share beautiful settings for all skill levels. Check out these great spots to golf or throw a few rounds… or many.

If golf is your game of choice, put Sandpoint on your scorecard. Tucked between mountain peaks and sparkling Lake Pend Oreille, there are six scenic courses within easy reach — each with its own charm and challenge. Plus, for those who like disc golf, there are 10 splendid courses among four disc golf destinations.

The crown jewel for golfers is The Idaho Club, Idaho’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. Winding through lush forested hills and along the Pack River, it’s as stunning as it is satisfying to play — with its many water hazards, a true bucket-list round. It’s just 10 minutes east of town.

Right in town, the friendly Elks Golf Course offers a classic, walkable nine. A half hour north, Mirror Lake Golf Course in Bonners Ferry delivers well-kept fairways and dramatic mountain backdrops framing the green Kootenai Valley. Thirty minutes west, The Ranch Club in Priest River has a rustic, welcoming vibe.

A bit farther out, it’s roughly an hour to Priest Lake Golf Course, a forest-lined gem with quiet fairways and mountain views. Finally, about 50 minutes south is StoneRidge Golf Course in Blanchard, where 18 championship holes are set among rolling hills and ponds.

Meanwhile, for that other brand of golf: Sandpoint offers some of the finest disc golf in Idaho. Right by town are the free public 18-hole Baldfoot and nine-hole Littlefoot courses. The pay-to-play Caliber Disc Golf has two acclaimed pro-level courses, while Schweitzer has 18 holes amid glorious alpine scenery (and free). The Idaho Club

Barely 10 minutes from downtown Sandpoint, The Idaho Club is Idaho’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. In 2008, Nicklaus Designs and Jack Nicklaus himself designed this golf course that provides a world-class golf experience while immersing players in the natural beauty of the lower Pack River estuary.

This exceptional 18-hole championship course offers a challenging course that’s renowned for its water hazards, served up amid scenery that is just as captivating as the fairway. The Idaho Club’s new 7,500-square-foot, mountain-modern style clubhouse offers a fine restaurant and pro shop and blends seamlessly with the scenic surroundings. Sandpoint Elks Golf Course

Sandpoint Elks Golf Course is little more than a mile northeast of downtown Sandpoint off Highway 200, with a well-maintained 9-hole course, equipment and cart rental, friendly clubhouse and affordable rates, as well as a restaurant and bar that is a gathering place for golfers as well as many community functions. Double tee boxes provide an 18-hole experiences as well!

Mirror Lake Golf Course

Mirror Lake Golf Course is a gem of a 9-hole course, located just 30 minutes north in Bonners Ferry. It is player friendly for the beginner, yet is a challenge for the low handicap golfer as well, with two sets of tees for the front and back nines. It has a diverse array of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, along with stunning views of the Selkirk Mountains and the Kootenai Valley stretching north. The golf course features water hazards on both par 3s as well as on three of the par 4s. The course is in wonderful shape with fast and smooth putting greens.

The golf course also provides a practice green, driving range, full-service Pro Shop, snack bar, and cocktail lounge.

From the back tees, the course measures 6001 yards with a slope of 117 and a course rating of 68.4 for the men, while the forward tees are 5256 yards with a slope of 123 and a course rating of 70.8 for the women. Par is 72 for both sets of tees.

Priest Lake Golf Course

Welcome to The Priest Lake Golf Course, North Idaho’s hidden gem. Conveniently located just minutes from Hill’s Resort, our golf course offers spectacular natural settings amid lofty mountains and a magnificent lake that is sure to please the whole family. Our 18-hole, par 72 championship course provides an unrivaled experience for golfers of all abilities, playing over 6200 yards from the championship tees and over 5600 from the whites.

With plenty of challenging carryovers, rolling hills, wetlands, and ponds, set amidst the breathtaking scenery of Priest Lake, you are bound to enjoy your time here. Come join our friendly staff at the newly renovated Sandbaggers Bar & Grill inside the clubhouse at Priest Lake Golf Course for breakfast, lunch, or a cocktail with friends and family!

Ranch Club Golf Course

This beautiful 9-hole golf course is perfect for all kinds of golfers – from seasoned members to even little ones trying out golf for the first time. Enjoy The Ranch Club golf course on the way through the beautiful Priest River, Idaho. The Ranch Club golf course is the perfect stop for an evening out or some friendly competition.

Baldfoot Disc Golf

The Baldfoot and Littlefoot disc golf courses are located at the edge of Sandpoint city limits and provide a pretty meadows-and-forest throwing experience. Run and maintained by a nonprofit group of enthusiasts, the 18-hole Baldfoot provides a full set of tees while the 9-hole Littlefoot offers a short course.

The group requests a $1 per round donation from players.

Schweitzer Disc Golf

For a disc golf experience amid amazing alpine views, Schweitzer offers 18 holes on its mountainside terrain. The first nine holes are located on the lower mountain near the village, while the second nine are at the scenic summit.

The lower course starts near the Creekside Express chairlift and is easily accessed from the village. The upper course starts near the summit-top Sky House lodge and restaurants. Golfers can feel free to hike to the summit via the well established nature trail, or purchase a scenic foot passenger lift ticket and let the Great Escape quad whisk you to the summit in under five minutes.

Bring your own discs and play either or both courses for free, or rent a disc for just $5 from the Activity Center.

Farragut Disc Golf

About 40 minutes south of Sandpoint, Farrgut is an historic former naval training station that is now one of the crown jewels of the Idaho state parks system. It’s located at the very scenic southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille – and just logically, summertime disc golf play should probably end up with a dip in that beautiful lake, right?

As for the golf itself, the park has five 18-hole disc golf courses for all skill levels. Four courses – Wreckreator, Northstar, A.W.O.L. and Cutthroat – offer a world class disc golfing experience. The Little Black Bear, an 18-hole putt-putt course, offers an encouraging and fun introduction to disc golf for beginners and those with children. If you forgot your discs at home, the park gift shop has a selection of golf discs.
