Things to Do

What's that? You're looking for something fun to do?

Located on the shores of Idaho’s largest lake, at the foot of Idaho’s biggest ski mountain, nestled amid three major frontal ranges of the northern Rocky Mountains … yeah, Sandpoint has outdoor recreation in spades. But that’s not all. Arts and entertainment flourish here, and the year-round events calendar is jam packed. Yes, you’ll find some fun things to do.

Hikes for all seasons

In Sandpoint, you can enjoy beautiful hikes all year long! Surrounded by state and national forestlands in the Selkirk, Cabinet and Bitterroot mountain ranges, the Sandpoint area has more than 200 amazing trails in the beautiful mountains surrounding our town.

Winter outdoor activities

So many winter outdoor activities to experience! Our terrific ski resort, Schweitzer, is renowned. But there’s more outdoors to be had, from fat-tire biking, to XC skiing or backcountry snowshoe experience … and a vibrant indoor recreation scene too!

Family friendly fun

Pack the kids for a range of fun or educational experiences. In winter and summer, Schweitzer mountain and nearby Pine Street Woods provide a variety of kid-sized outdoor opportunities. In summer, the lake shines for activities from swimming and beaching to kayaking and boating. Western Pleasure Guest Ranch offers horseback riding and loads of family fun!

'A picture-perfect mountain town...'

We don’t like to brag, so…. we’ll let USA Today do it for us. See what they say about Sandpoint, and a dozen other media too.
