Time for some Winter fun!

Hold on to your sleds … it’s time to celebrate all things snowy and bright during the Sandpoint Winter Carnival, coming to town Feb. 14-23 with non-stop events both in town and on the mountain. First week highlights include the Parade of Lights Friday, Feb. 14, featuring zany floats through downtown, plus there’s Schweitzer’s Let It Glow! Night Parade and Fireworks, Sunday, Feb. 16.

And there’s much more coming up second week, including the Weird & Wonderful Pub Crawl on Saturday, Feb. 22, and what may be the all-time favorite carnival event, the K9 Keg Pull at Eichardt’s Pub on Sunday, Feb. 23. Check out the entire schedule on the event’s official website: SandpointWinterCarnival.com.

Ice skating

There’s usually a narrow window, but when conditions allow, ice skaters flock to the Third Avenue Pier for excellent skating on Lake Pend Oreille; you may also be able to get into a pick-up hockey game. Also, Sand Creek below the Cedar Street Bridge downtown can provide a charming venue for ice skating. The city also frequently clears an ice skating area at City Beach near the mouth of Sand Creek.
